چکیده

The aspects of using a general amplitude probability density function in coherent detectors are investigated. For this purpose, the recently developed Generalised Bessel function K (GBK) distribution is used. The performance of the optimal detector of signals embedded in GBK-distributed interference is compared to the one of the uniformly most powerful invariant detector using extensive Monte Carlo simulations. The results indicate that for small number of integrated pulses the optimal detector outperforms the uniformly most powerful invariant detector by up to 18 dB. It is shown, that this improvement does not vary signi cantly with changes in the parameters that control the spherical invariance of the GBK distribution.

Translation Invariant Approach for Measuring Similarity of Signals

In many signal processing applications, an appropriate measure to compare two signals plays a fundamental role in both implementing the algorithm and evaluating its performance. Several techniques have been introduced in literature as similarity measures. However, the existing measures are often either impractical for some applications or they have unsatisfactory results in some other applicati...

Coherent detection of radar signals in G-distributed clutter

Recently the G distribution has been proposed as a new model for extremely heterogeneous clutter in SAR returns. In this paper, we develop a technique for estimating the parameters of the G distribution, show that the G distribution represents an amplitude distribution of a spherically invariant random process for certain values of its parameters, and design coherent detectors for known and unk...

Radar Signal Detection in K-distributed Clutter by Pade Approximation

In this paper, two suboptimum detectors are proposed for coherent radar signal detection in K-distributed clutter. Assuming certain values for several initial moments of clutter amplitude, the characteristic function of the clutter amplitude is approximated by a limited series. Using the Pade approximation, it is then converted to a rational fraction. Thus, the pdf of the clutter amplitude is o...
